KEYS FOR COLLECTORS

  • This set was sold on the Shop at Home Network in 1997
  • Robert Levin of Star led the public to believe these cards had been locked in a warehouse for over 10 years and were finally being released.
  • However, the set was actually produced in 1997, without an NBA license. Star and Levin were subsequently sued by the NBA.
  • The set features 21 of the top players in the NBA. The cards have yellow borders and blue text – not to be confused with the 1986 (licensed) Court Kings set with Yellow Borders and Red Text.
  • Additionally, there was a licensed 1985 Star Court Kings set that is 5×7 in size.
  • The Jordan image used in this set was not seen in any previous licensed Star sets.

This set features 21 star basketball players from the NBA. The set also features one card of Michael Jordan.

Like all other Star sets, these were released in bags as shown below.

All Shop at Home sets were issued with a letter from Robert Levin, founder of Star. All letters were written very similarly, all claiming that these sets were unearthed from storage when, in fact, Levin had unlawfully printed them in 1997. This is a letter for the red Jordan Olympics set, but they are all basically the same.
